The Look of Korea

Before coming to Korea, the only place I'd seen this type of architecture was the Korean Friendship Bell in San Pedro, California (which is lovely by the way).

But this type of architecture is all over Korea--and I have taken many a picture of it. My aunt requested a blog showcasing all the various pavilions/gates--and here it is. Some pictures have been seen in previous blogs, some have not. ENJOY.

Namdaemun Gate before it was burned down--
Dongdaemun Gate--
Bosingak Pavilion (giant bell inside that is struck on New Year's)--
Independence Hall--
Tapgol Park (tapgol means pagoda, the park opened in 1897; first Western-style park in Seoul)--
Jogyesa (largest Buddhist shrine in Seoul)--
Changdeokgung Palace (Palace of Illustrious Virtue)--

Deoksogung Palace (Palace of Virtuous Longevity)--
Gyeongbokgung Palace (Palace of Shining Happiness)--
Peace Bell (at the Imjingak Tourist Center near the DMZ)--
Kwanghuimun Gate--

Wongudan (Altar of Heaven Pavilion)--
